I’m an educator at heart. I love to learn. I’m grateful to those who have had a hand in teaching me. I feel immense joy when I pass the gift of learning to others. Although I’ve held many different titles, being a learner and an educator have been common threads throughout my journey.
My passion for learning experience design blossomed while creating an online course for the Stanford School of Medicine. Collaborating with the instructor, I delighted in every aspect of the project: writing learning objectives, structuring content into modules, writing and editing video scripts, designing slides, recording voice-over, writing assessment questions, and posting the course to a LMS.
As founder and lead instructor of a math and science tutoring business, I meet each learner where they are and to lead them step by step to where they want to go, tailoring my instructional methods to maximize their progress.
I rely on evaluation and iteration to achieve results. By observing planting outcomes while managing an oak restoration project for twenty years, I steadily improved how I trained planting crew leaders.
As an engineer, I ground my instructional design in learning theory, visual design principles, instructional design methodology, and multimedia principles.
I create eLearning that is concise and uncluttered.
I'm detail-oriented. My end product is polished.
I thrive when furthering common good.
In my free time, I enjoy running, swimming, practicing yoga, watching sunsets, and backpacking and hiking with my daughters—twins who bring me immense joy.
